It sure was a gloomy weekend! With day temps in the 40’s, the chill in the air was very present. We went ahead and planted the beets anyways! Beets seeds are very weird. They are small and pointy and shaped different. This means that they need to be pressed down with a heavy roller after they are planted to help the dirt get in all of those nooks and crannies. The ground was damp from last night’s severe storm, which made it very soft, so we used the roller first to make it easier for the hand seeder to cut in and then rolled again after the seeds were in the ground. Wish us luck!
